According to a 2022 study conducted by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), nearly three in four women journalists (73%) had experienced online violence. Journalists deserve the utmost respect and access to safety when they report the news. When facing unwarranted behavior, we're convinced that bystander intervention is more important than ever. It is a powerful tool to disrupt online hate and remind others that they have the #RightToBeHeard. If you're wondering how to be an ally for women and gender-expansive journalists, we invite you to watch our new series of videos explaining simple ways to provide support and be a great bystander. The first video features Jareen Imam, a journalist and content creator who explains how online harassment has impacted her work and some of the ways in which bystanders can support women and gender-expansive journalists using Right To Be's Storytelling platform. https://stories.righttobe.org/?link
