Millay Arts is accepting applications for its multidisciplinary artist residency for individuals and 2-person collaborations for 2-week to month-long stays (April-July 2025) at Steepletop, the historic estate of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and activist Edna St. Vincent Millay in Austerlitz, NY. We offer an inspiring and secluded setting (in the upper Hudson Valley, bordering on the Berkshires), a curated, diverse and intimate cohort of exceptional poets, writers (fiction and nonfiction), playwrights, screenwriters, filmmakers, composers, visual and performance artists (6-7 maximum), chef-prepared communal weeknight suppers (attendance is not mandatory), groceries, private bedrooms and studios. Cost is application fee ($45) and nonrefundable deposit $100. Since 1973, we have hosted over 3000 creators, whose extraordinary works enrich lives and communities globally; our alumni are consistently recognized with MacArthur and National Book Awards, Pulitzer, Pen America and Lambda Literary Prizes, Guggenheim Fellowships and others. Post-departure, we offer ongoing professional development assistance including Teaching Artist opportunities, fiscal agent services, grant application/budget reviews, etc.; alumni are also given special low rate for Wintertide Rustic Retreat stays (mid-December -- March) annually.
