About

I am a self-taught mixed media artist, and art has always been something I’ve naturally been drawn to. I first started creating through school art classes in elementary, middle, and high school, but I never had any formal training beyond that. Over time, I developed my style on my own, learning through experience, experimentation, and simply enjoying the process. For me, creating art is calming and grounding. It’s something I turn to not just to make something visually interesting, but because I genuinely enjoy the act of creating. I don’t approach my work with strict rules—I let each piece evolve as I go, which is why my work often blends structure with more expressive, abstract elements. I work across both canvas and functional pieces like furniture, transforming everyday objects into something more unique and personal. I’m drawn to texture, layered color, and repetition, while also allowing room for movement and imperfection. My work reflects my own process—intuitive, evolving, and rooted in the simple enjoyment of creating something from nothing.

Artist Statement

I create mixed media works that move between structure and spontaneity, often transforming functional objects into expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces. My work combines layered paint, texture, and repetition with more intuitive, gestural marks, allowing each piece to evolve through both control and release. Drawing inspiration from Southern architecture, traditional motifs, and lived environments, I rework familiar forms—furniture, patterns, and architectural elements—into something more personal and dynamic. Repetition, such as the fleur-de-lis, becomes less about decoration and more about rhythm, identity, and place. My abstract pieces explore movement through vertical drips, layered color fields, and textured surfaces, capturing a sense of energy and time within the work. I am interested in the tension between refinement and imperfection—where clean lines meet raw, expressive marks. Ultimately, my work is about transformation: taking what is structured, familiar, or overlooked and reimagining it into something bold, emotional, and alive.
