Artist Statement
My work is rooted in a desire to capture the quiet beauty of everyday moments and translate them into something lasting. Working primarily in oils, I am drawn to familiar scenes; subtle arrangements of light and shadow, form, and atmosphere that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Influenced by traditional painters, I approach each piece with a strong commitment to craftsmanship. Careful attention is given to composition, value, color, and intentional brushwork, allowing each painting to develop with a sense of balance and harmony.
While grounded in observation, my work is less about exact representation and more about evoking a feeling. I am interested in creating a sense of stillness and presence; softening edges, simplifying forms, and focusing on the quiet relationships within a scene.
Ultimately, my goal is to create paintings that offer a moment of pause, inviting the viewer to slow down, look more closely, and find a sense of connection in the beauty of the everyday.
