I started writing around 12 years old; it was one of the few ways I found life to be survivable. Writing, poetry especially allowed me the freedom to express myself and get out what lived in my head. This was one of the greatest things I've ever found. Poetry allowed me not to stay locked in my traumatic childhood, and now I have overcome the darkness that threatened me. Poetry is and was my route to freedom and living life, not just surviving.
